We first experimented with disco on the final New Threads album Threadsboro, with the track "The High Road." It wasn't great, but our Steely Dan-driven ambitions carried through. In late 2020, while working out the songs that would eventually become 2021's New Threads is Dead, I wrote a little ditty called "Speed of Might." We tracked it, there was a mix; but ultimately it was scrapped entirely with the notion that we would revisit the song in the future for a fully disco-themed LP. And that's what we've finally done here! Fusing the free jam nature of Northern Terrace with the classic staples of the disco genre, this was a tough record to make but one that ultimately elevated us both as players and as bandmates. Gracing the front cover is the chaotic "It's a Cool World After All," hand-drawn by our best buddy Nick Burchard. Warning: this album may cause uncontrollable toe tapping.
