Recorded at Liz's house in early 2025.

After 6 months of hiding in The Hills, interdimensional hitchhiker Rock Anderson has had enough and is leaving the commune for good. But King Buford has other plans, and when a civil war is launched across Guyamar, Rock must decide whether he wants to continue running or face the King himself. And the tyrannous King is not alone: at his side is Bagman, a portal-crafting wizard born out of a test tube experiment gone sideways, overpowered only by the creator of King Buford himself, an all-powerful, cynical god-creature known only as The Maruchan Man. But Rock makes some allies of his own along the way: a friend made in The Hills named Finlo; A centuries-old scientist who was banished from the mainland to the island city of South Pointe named Dr. Wilson; and an ancient cult sworn to protect the portals (with whom he may have dealt with in the past) all prove to be pivotal in his journey from The Hills to Baytu... the only question that remains is whether or not he will crack once he gets there.

It feels so good to finally be writing this blurb. I do one of these for every album, but this one feels extra special given how long this one was in the oven. I started making demos for Cow Country in late 2020, when the first inklings of King Buford as a character came into my head. It's gone through multiple iterations, dozens of working titles, and been pushed to the back burner hundreds of times- to finally see it release is one of the greatest payoffs of my entire life. After a failed attempt to make the album in late 2021, I wrote a 300-page manuscript of the story depicted in the lyrics. And when it was planned for 2023, we upstaged ourselves by writing and releasing Buford's Revenge in its place, an album which ultimately sandwiches this one. This is Free Rock with nobody telling us to stop.
